Mr. Kurtz: The Heart of Darkness

I had a teacher in high school by the name of Mr. Kurtz (aka Mr. Klutz). Like the character from Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, he was a petty tyrant, ruling over his history class, commanding the obedience of the football players. He married one of his students (yeah, there were sex between students and teachers back then), and had a successful, long-lasting marriage. Creepy bastard… He always gave me a real hard time. Pure hate. So I based this strip on that jerk.

I’m putting together the long, complicated history of JOE and PUNK magazine, which will run for a few weeks. But don’t worry: BOSKO is on deck! You will see why he’s “America’s Least Favorite Cartoon Character!”
