Yeah, I try not to update software unless I have absolutely no choice - I'm not the only one who does this! With each new update it also runs worse on my machine, that whole planned obsolescence thing.
Also, depending on what your client needs you can still make the design physically, scanning in each revision. If that's easier for you. Believe it or not I've seen a lot of graphic designers do that these days for ads, flyers, all sorts of stuff! I think the "it was made on the computer so it's better" has passed. What matters is if the design is good and the client can use it!

If I could do it, I would be using the programs from the early 2000s. I hate learning new things. I am way too old for that!
